Support Sky High

Going into next weekend's inauguration, the incoming administration already counts on slightly more support than registered in the voting both nearly one month ago. The latest poll conducted by Apoyo, Opinión y Mercado found that:

65% of the population approves of the President-elect
67% of the population believes that it will be a positive administration
45% of the population says that it feels hope due to Morales becoming President

It is also important to note that this survey was collected in the urban centers, where compared to the rural parts of Bolivia, MAS' support was generally lower. Nearly 3 out of 4 residents of El Alto give Evo Morales a favorable rating. Even in the city of Santa Cruz, where MAS pulled off a surprising 33% of the vote (including the outlying provinces), the figures show differing results than the media leads one to believe about support in that city. However, in this recent poll of the city of Santa Cruz, approximately 1 out of 2 Cruceños approved of Evo Morales as President of Bolivia.

Similar (or sometimes better) approval ratings for president Mesa did not help him having good results. Of course, he didn't have the support of the parliament. I just want to point out that approval ratings in Bolivia don't seem to determine a successful government.

By the way, this page was so broken that it was extremely hard to post here.
