Colorful Characters

Nope, it is not Pedro Picapiedra (Fred Flintstone) on the streets of La Paz during el Primero de Mayo (Mayday) celebrations. The rally commemorating the traditional worker's holiday had something for even the little obrero kids. A representation of Hugo Chavez made a special guest appearance in the Plaza San Francisco (see photo below). No word whether the lovable and huggable Huguito passed out candy to the onlookers. Sure, it makes for a more interesting march than the usual bottle rockets and dynamite sticks.

A jolly-looking Hugo Chavez

Chavez, Che Guevara and Fidel Castro. Notice that the names were printed on the caps of Chavez and Castro. Perhaps this was to avoid any confusion? Add glasses to the Fidel and it looks very similar to the current President.
