Even though it looks like a doctored photo, I found this strange actual picture in Yahoo.

This photo shows President Carlos Mesa volunteering as a prop in a bicycle demonstration. This took place during the hot air balloon festival in Uyuni. The bicycle demonstration was a part of the entertainment that included folkloric dances and models. I'm almost embarrassed for him.
Is there anything this guy won't do for his country?

I think the better question might be: "Is there anything this guy won't do for publicity?"
Over the past year I've decided that Mesa's just a socialite version of empty populism.

Sure it's publicity, but I think he honestly enjoys being among the people. Something that past Presidents really didn't.

Yes, I think Mesa does enjoy being among the people. But when I see him do it, I always get the feeling he's a father visiting his children. If you've ever met his family ... oy, vey! Soooo patronizingly condescending.
